The first UL Salon was held on August 20th, 2008. The purpose of the Salon is to serve as a forum for the sharing of ideas and discussion of the trends which influence our work.

Below is a list of topics to consider for future discussion:

1. Marketing and PR for the library
2. Google--how it changes the scenario of research
3. The future of the book. What is the role of the book as an information container?
4. How to do lots of stuff with almost no moneymoney. Could we re-assess the location and arrangement of some of the furniture we have now? What would Martha say?
5. Catalog enrichment/discovery tools (Can you list some examples we can look at?)
6. The role & future of academic librarieslibraries.
7. Information organizationorganization--are the old ways losing importance?
8. Statistics that matter (How do we demonstrate/illustrate the library's contributions to student learning?)
9. Implications of changing teaching styles for libraries and learning
